Sun, Earth and Moon
Sun, Earth and Moon
Look up long enough and you start to feel it. The universe is not just something you exist inside of. It is something that exists inside of you.
The sun, the earth, the moon. We treat them as physical objects, as science, as background. But they are also a map.
The Sun
You cannot look directly at the sun. You cannot approach it. The closer you get, the more it destroys you. And yet without it, nothing lives.
This is the nature of ultimate truth. It is real. It is the source of everything. But the human mind cannot hold it in full. The mystics who got too close didn't come back with answers. They came back unable to speak. Or they didn't come back at all.
The sun is not meant to be reached. It is meant to be lived by.
The Earth
Earth is the only place in what we know of the universe where life as we experience it exists. And it is not a place of pure light. It is a place of both. Day and night. Growth and decay. Beauty and violence. All of it, on the same planet, at the same time, just depending on where you're standing.
We spend enormous energy trying to be only the light. To present only the good, the healed, the certain. But we are of the earth. We contain everything the earth contains. The darkness is not the enemy of the light here. It is what makes the light visible.
The Moon
The moon produces no light of its own. It reflects. And because of that reflection, people have navigated oceans, marked time, found their way home in the dark.
There is something important in that. You don't always need to generate light from within. Sometimes, in your darkest periods, the most honest thing you can do is reflect what little light is available. That is enough to navigate by. That is enough to help someone else find their way.
What This Is Actually About
The sun is the soul. The part of you that is the source, that you cannot fully see or hold, but that everything else depends on.
The earth is your human experience. The full thing. Light and dark, gain and loss, clarity and confusion. Not a problem to be solved but a terrain to be lived.
The moon is your awareness. Your capacity to reflect truth back to yourself and others, especially when direct sight is impossible.
You are all three. And the relationship between them, the way they pull on each other, illuminate each other, balance each other, that is not just astronomy.
That is you.
