The Ocean

The surface of the sea is all the mind can see. Waves rising and falling, thoughts and ideas constantly shifting, each one feeling significant until the next one arrives. From the shore it looks like the whole thing. But the shore is the least interesting place to stand.

Imagine if no one had ever gone beneath the surface. The ocean would seem like nothing more than restless motion. That is how most people experience their inner world.
